Which ticket wins your day trip from Berlin?
Pick a day trip, a date and your group size, and watch the real ticket prices cross: the 36.50 euro Brandenburg-Berlin-Ticket, the Deutschlandticket, VBB day tickets and early ICE fares on one chart.
A cost chart for train tickets on day trips from Berlin: choose Potsdam, Sachsenhausen, the Spreewald, Tropical Islands, Szczecin, Dresden, Leipzig or Hamburg, set your travel date and group size, and the tool plots the total price of every valid ticket for one to five people. It knows the flat 36.50 euro Brandenburg-Berlin-Ticket, the Quer-durchs-Land-Ticket at 51 euros plus 12 per extra person, the 63 euro Deutschlandticket, the Berlin ABC day tickets and the floor prices of ICE advance fares, plus the 09:00 weekday rule that decides when the group tickets start working. Prices checked on 4 September 2026.
Ticket machines sell every German rail product but never say which one is cheapest for your group. This chart does exactly that: it plots the real prices against group size, shows where the flat group tickets overtake per-person tickets, and adapts to your date, because the group tickets only start at 09:00 on weekdays.
What this tool does
It holds the verified prices of every ticket that matters for day trips out of Berlin: the Brandenburg-Berlin-Ticket at 36.50 euros flat for up to 5 people, the Quer-durchs-Land-Ticket at 51 euros plus 12 per additional person, the 63 euro monthly Deutschlandticket, the Berlin ABC 24 hour and small group day tickets, the special Berlin to Szczecin tariff and the floor prices of ICE and EC advance fares. Pick a destination and the chart draws the total cost for one to five people, so the crossover points stop being a surprise at the machine.
How to read the chart
Each line is one ticket product; flat group tickets run horizontal while per-person tickets climb. The shaded band is the honest range of advance fares on fast trains, from the 6.99 euro floor to the standard tier, doubled for a day return. The highlighted column marks your group size, and the verdict below the chart names the cheapest fixed price for your exact date, because on weekdays the two big group tickets only start at 09:00. Tick the Deutschlandticket box if you already hold one and the chart re-prices everything around it.
My advice
For two or more people anywhere in Brandenburg, buy the Brandenburg-Berlin-Ticket and stop thinking. Solo trips to Potsdam or Sachsenhausen ride on a 12.90 euro 24 hour ABC ticket. For Dresden and Leipzig, groups do the regional maths with the Quer-durchs-Land-Ticket while solo travellers book an early advance fare on the fast train, and Hamburg is always a booked ICE.
