Berlin Rail Decoder

Type a Berlin line label like U8, S41, M10, Bus 100, RE1 or FEX and see what it actually is, which ticket covers it, and what to expect at night.

A free Berlin transport helper for decoding U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram, bus, regional and airport line labels before you choose the platform.

Use this free Berlin tool when a route says U8, S41, M10, Bus 100, RE1 or FEX and you are not sure what kind of vehicle, ticket or night-service rule you are dealing with. It keeps the transport label small enough to act on before you change platforms.

What this rail decoder does

The Berlin Rail Decoder helps tourists turn a short transport label into a useful choice. Type something like U8, S41, M10, Bus 100, RE1, FEX or N8 and it explains the service type, normal ticket coverage, night-service habit and one simple next move.

Best use

Use it when Google Maps, BVG or a station sign gives you a line code but not the local meaning behind it. It is especially useful around Alexanderplatz, Friedrichstraße, Hauptbahnhof, Zoo and BER Airport, where U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram, bus and regional trains can appear in the same journey.

Local guide note

My advice is to decode the first letter before you worry about the platform. A normal AB ticket covers most U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus trips inside Berlin, but regional trains and airport routes still deserve a quick check before you board.
